SOG, SPG, Odisha Police Conduct Mock Drill In Bhubaneswar Ahead Of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), which is scheduled in Bhubaneswar from January 8-10, Operations Group (SOG) and Special Protection Group (SPG), ODRAF and Fire Brigade and K9 squad conducted a mock drill following a threat email from Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun at the Janata Maidan here on Sunday.

The mock drill was conducted with a view to keep the security forces prepared for any possible terror attack during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention. Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania took on himself to monitor the security arrangements while Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner, Bhubaneswar DGP, and Additional Police Commissioner joined the mock drill. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja was present during the mock drill.

Over 10,000 delegates from all over the world will attend the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention.

As of now, 80 platoons of police force and 10 companies of security personnel have been deployed for the security in the city. As many as 650 senior police officers will keep an eye on the security. Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) has been assigned the security surveillance in the city. Bhubaneswar will be under CCTV surveillance from January 8 to 10.
