Bhubaneswar: A major controversy has erupted at the Jagatsinghpur Zilla Parishad office after a hidden spy camera was discovered in the women’s washroom. The incident came to light when the camera suddenly fell down while a female employee was using the facility, leaving her shocked and frightened.
The woman immediately informed the Chief Development and Executive Officer. The matter was then escalated to the District Collector, who directed the Superintendent of Police (SP) to conduct a thorough investigation.
Following this, the Additional Chief Development and Executive Officer along with the Tirtol Block Development Officer (BDO) lodged a formal complaint at Tirtol Police Station. A case has been registered and the probe is being supervised directly by the SP due to the sensitive nature of the incident.
Police are now trying to determine who installed the spy camera — whether it was a male employee, a female employee, or an outsider. Investigators are also examining the motive behind the act — whether it was installed for blackmail using obscene photos and videos, for personal revenge, or for some other reason.
Police are further probing how long the camera had been installed and who procured the device. Police are also scrutinizing the office CCTV footage to check if any male person entered the women’s bathroom area. The discovery has caused significant unease and anger among female employees and staff at the Zilla Parishad office. Many have raised serious concerns over safety and privacy within government premises, even though regular CCTV cameras are already installed in common areas.
