Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast for the next two days due to expected squally weather conditions.

According to the Meteorological Centre of Bhubaneswar, squally weather with wind speeds reaching 35-45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail along and off the Odisha coast on July 6 and July 7, 2026.

Sea conditions are likely to remain moderate to rough during this period. The IMD has strongly advised fishermen not to venture into the sea on these two days in view of the deteriorating weather.

This warning comes in the wake of the ongoing monsoon activity and the influence of a cyclonic depression over the region, which has already caused heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.
