Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to accord state honour to Naba Kishore Das, former Minister of Health and Family Welfare who passed away in a private hospital in the state capital on Sunday. Das was shot by an ASI in Jharsuguda during a visit to his home constituency on Sunday.
According to an official statement released by the Odisha Home Department, the national flag was flown at half-mast on Sunday — the day Das succumbed to his bullet injuries, and the same will be done on the day of his funeral — the day where the funeral will take place. No official entertainment for three days from January 29 to January 31 throughout the state,” the official release read.
A number of Odisha ministers, including the Ministers for Parliamentary Affairs; Finance; Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment; Employment; Fisheries & Animal Resources Development; Commerce; Transport; and Water Resources will pay homage to the mortal remains of Naba Kishore Das on behalf of the state government. The departed minister will be accorded state honour during the funeral at the cremation site in Jharsuguda, the Home Department release said.
