Bhubaneswar: The state-level Independence Day celebration will be held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, announced Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Monday.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister at a meeting of the Home Department and I&PR department.
According to official sources, Odisha is all set to celebrate the 78th Independence Day with grandeur and fervour. The state-level celebrations will be held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, featuring a spectacular parade with around 40 contingents.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will hoist the national flag at 9 am and address the gathering, followed by the salute of the combined parade. The parade will feature contingents from schools, colleges, police forces, and other organizations.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Majhi directed the allocation of additional funds for the celebration of Independence Day at the district level.
Emphasizing the significance of the day, Majhi stated that Independence Day is a national festival and a day of joy and celebration for the entire nation, and hence it should be celebrated with grandeur.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of I &PR Department Sanjay Singh, Special Secretary to Home Department Santosh Bala and Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda.
