Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) recently conducted a raid in Bhandaripokhari area of Bhadrak district following which a coal smuggling racket was busted.
“Basing on intelligence input regarding Cargo theft and storage of huge quantity of illegal Chromites, Coal, STF conducted raid with the help of Bhadrak police late night on Wednesday. The raid was carried out at Puripada in Dahala under Bhandaripokhari police limits,” an STF official said.
Searches were carried out in the stock yard run by one Bijaya Shankar Mohanty of Fatehpur in Bhadrak. During raid, 330 tonnes of Chromite, 15 tonnes Coal, two 20-Wheeler Trucks, One excavator, one Tractor and other incriminating materials were seized.
In this connection, four persons Bijaya Shankar Mohanty, Biswajit Nayak, Amar Sahoo and Anil Sethi were apprehended.
“The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of such stolen Coal and Chromite, for which they have been arrested and is being forwarded to the court of JMFC-II, Bhadrak,” the STF official added.
In this connection, the STF has registered a case under Sections 379/411/120(B) of the IPC and 21 of MMDR Act,1957. The investigation is on.
