Student Goes Missing After Being Swept Away In Chitroptala River

Bhubaneswar: A student was swept away while taking a bath with friends in the Chitroptala River in Kendrapara district, on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Koushik Barik, a resident of Patakura Jagannathpur village.

According to sources, Koushik had gone to the river with his friends for bathing. However, due to negligence, he slipped and fell into the river before being swept away by the strong currents.

After his friends’ desperate efforts to rescue him remained unsuccessful, they informed Koushik’s family members.

Acting on a tip-off by Koushik’s family members, fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Till the last report came in, Koushik’s whereabouts remained unknown.
