Sundargarh: Police arrested 17 persons on Saturday in connection with Thursday’s firing at Garjanbahal coal washery under Hemgiri police limits in Sundargarh district. The accused persons were forwarded to court.
Out of the 17 arrested persons 13 were arrested from Chhattisgarh’s Raigad, 3 from Jharsuguda, and 1 from Sambalpur.
“In connection with the case registered at Hemgiri police station on Friday, we have forwarded 17 persons to court. 13 of them are from Chhattisgarh’s Raigad and four are from Odisha- 3 are from Jharsuguda and 1 is from Sambalpur. The owners of Bhatia Energy & Minerals Pvt Ltd, Sundargarh had some dispute over share percentage. One of the owners had leased out his share to a third party. The third party’s men and Bharat Agarwal’s men had an altercation. We do not have any evidence, clue or residue of firing having taken place there. Further investigation in the matter is underway,” informed Himanshu Bhusan Behera, SDPO, Sundargarh.
