Bhubaneswar: Armies of red ants have swarmed several areas in Puri district making life miserable for inhabitants of Sahadapada in the district. The villagers are so overwhelmed by the ant infestation that they are neither able to eat nor sleep.
According to reports, red ants have prevailed all over Sahadapada for the last six months making it difficult for people to stay at home or go outdoors. From drinking water to the kitchen, ants have spread everywhere.
The ants are swarming all around and biting the people resulting in itchiness and soreness. Life has become miserable even for the animals due to the prevalence of ants. Even use of pesticides is not effective on these invading ants.
The villagers have demanded that the authorities initiate immediate action to eradicate the ants. Women in Sahadapada complained that ants have made their lives difficult for the past six months and they can neither stay at home or go anywhere outside the house. From food to drinking water, ants are everywhere and in everything, they said.
