Dhenkanal: A tehsildar sustained injuries after being attakced by a group of miscreants involved in illegal mining. the incident took place at Patharkhamb village under Parjang police limits.
Parjang tehsildar Subhra Patel had gone to Patharkhamb village to inquire into complaints pertaining to illegal soil raising. On reaching the spot, Patel took photographs of the people involved in the illegal work.
Enraged over it, the group attacked Patel and tried to run JCB vehicle over him. When revenue inspector Alok Kumar Lenka rushed to the spot to rescue the tehsildar, he was also beaten up by the group.
Locals rescued the officer-duo and shifted them to Kamakhyanagar sub-divisional hospital.
Parjang MLA Nrusingh Charan Sahu and Kamakhyanagar deputy collector Jyoti Shankar Sahu went to the hospital and enquired about the condition of the injured officers.
A police team went to the village and seized the tractor used by the mafia members. However, the miscreants had fled.
Kamakhyanagar police launched a search and nabbed two members of the gang. “Stringent action will be taken by the district police against the accused in this case,” the police stated.
