Bhubaneswar: Telecom services have been restored in 99 per cent of blocks in Odisha’s Ganjam district, with complete connectivity achieved in major areas, including Brahmapur, Chhatrapur, Ganjam, Khallikote and Bhanjanagar, the state government said on Sunday.
As of 10 am on November 1, BSNL and other telecom service providers had achieved 100 per cent restoration in these key areas, while efforts were underway to restore services in the remaining affected pockets.
Restoration work is currently underway in one block under BSNL and Airtel coverage and two blocks under the Jio network, the government said.
The remaining disruptions are primarily due to submerged telecom infrastructure, including Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), batteries, power plants and diesel generator (DG) sets.
These installations will be made operational once floodwaters recede, enabling telecom service providers to achieve complete restoration across the district.
The state government is continuously monitoring the restoration process and coordinating with all telecom service providers to ensure timely action and the speedy restoration of communication networks.
The government is also taking steps to ensure uninterrupted communication facilities for people in flood-affected areas, recognising the critical role of telecom connectivity during natural disasters.
