This Odisha Couple Is Enabling Underprivileged Students For A Successful Career

Bhubaneswar: They believe in the power of education and its potential to change lives, communities, nations, and the future of our planet. Their vision is not limited to providing financial assistance to underprivileged scholar children for a bright career but also nurturing them to become great humans so they could become a beacon of hope for their community. Yes, we are talking about a couple who has been empowering many underprivileged children and helping them financially to pursue their higher studies and become self-sufficient.

Hailing from Bhubaneswar, the couple identifies bright students from marginal sections of society who have financial constraints and helps them pursue their higher studies so that they can make their dreams come true.

Ommcom News meets this generous couple Santoshi Jain and Kulbhushan Jain to know their life story which inspired them to help financially backward students.

Recollecting their heartrending story, Santoshi (57) said, “In 2001, I gave birth to a baby girl. However, she died in a freak mishap when she was barely seven. Being the parents of a single child, we went into depression. We had a tough time dealing with the situation.  We met our spiritual guru Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj and informed him about the situation we were going through. It was then he told us that death has no age. Anyone can die any time. You are not born for a single child. God must have different plans for you. You might be born to serve more kids. Lines uttered by the Guruji had a lasting impact on us.”

She continues: “One day, my husband was busy working in a bank when three students approached him seeking his help to avail study loans. We did not give it a second thought and decided to help them pursue B.Tech, M Pharma and MBA. While one of them is pursuing a job at Nokia company, another student is doing research in Bangalore. And the third student who passed out MBA with flying colours has set up a school for students like him to achieve their goals.”

That’s not all. Santoshi and Kulbhusan have helped two students to prepare for NIIT coaching. While one of the students’ father is suffering from mental disease, another student’s father is not financially sound enough to afford his son’s educational expenses. Every student coming to Santoshi and Kulbhusan has some constraints. Besides, they have supported a blind girl to complete her post-graduation. And the list goes on.

“Despite being a fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution, access to quality education remains a distant dream for children belonging to financially backward families. By supporting unprivileged students, we can empower them to overcome the barriers they face and unlock their potential. Education should be a pathway to a brighter future for all, regardless of their socioeconomic background”, said Kulbhushan.

Besides, Santoshi is very much sympathetic towards birds. She makes sure to come up with pots made up of waste for birds during summer. She with the help of some noble-hearted people hangs such pots filled with water and food in parks to satiate the hunger and thirst of the flying creatures.

“During peak summer, birds find it hard to arrange food and water for them. So, we as a human being need to understand it and do our bit for them”, said Santoshi before signing off.
