Phulbani: In a tragic road accident, three persons were killed on the spot after their motorbike rammed into a tree near the Duluri Nullah turning under Daringibadi police station limits on Friday.

Police sources said the victims were on their way back to Rutungia village under Baliguda police limits after visiting the Daringibadi pine forest area when the mishap occurred.

The speeding bike reportedly lost control while negotiating a curve and crashed into a roadside tree, leading to the instant deaths of all three riders.

Daringbadi police rushed to the spot after being alerted and have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Police have seized the bodies for post-mortem.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Rutungia village, where the deceased hailed from.
