Baripada: Three teachers in Mayurbhanj district have faced disciplinary action for allegedly reporting to school in an intoxicated condition, with the Kaptipada Block Education Officer (BEO) suspending one and withholding the salaries of two others.
According to officials, the headmaster of Bhutasahi Primary School under Kaptipada block was found attending school in an allegedly drunken state. He was suspended for alleged dereliction of duty and violation of service rules, besides stoppage of his salary.
Similarly, assistant teacher Bapi Hembram of Gajaamba School and in-charge headmaster Ram Chandra Hansda of Kathchua School have been accused of coming to school in an intoxicated condition. The BEO, Panamani Besra, has ordered stoppage of their salaries pending further action.
In another case, Besra issued a show-cause notice to Saroj Kar, an assistant teacher of Kathchua Primary School, for allegedly remaining absent from duty for three consecutive days without providing any reason.
The disciplinary measures have sent a strong message among teachers in the block, with officials indicating that violations of duty and service rules will invite action.
The BEO’s action comes amid efforts to ensure discipline and regular attendance in schools and prevent conduct that could affect the functioning of educational institutions.
