Bhubaneswar: Thundershower with lightning is likely to affect some parts of 16 districts including the cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack within the next three hours, the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre here has warned through a nowcast warning at 6.30 PM today.
While moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and one or two intense spell of rain is likely to affect some districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Jagatsinghpur within next three hours, light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely to affect some parts of districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Khordha, (including Bhubaneswar City), Cuttack ( including Cuttack City), and Puri within next three hours.
The IMD has issued ‘Orange’ warning for the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh and Jagatsinghpur.
Similarly, the IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ warning for the districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Khordha, (including Bhubaneswar City), Cuttack ( including Cuttack City), and Puri.
The IMD has warned of water logging in low-lying areas, occasionally with poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas likely. It has been advised to avoid movement in the affected area and make arrangements for drainage of excess water.
Further people have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
