Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds over several parts of 12 Odisha districts in next three hours.
According to the warning issued at 7:10, thunderstorm with lightning, rain, and surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Sundergarh districts in the next three hours, that is, till around 10:10 am. These districts have been issued yellow warning.
The Met Department has advised people in the affected districts to remain vigilant and monitor weather updates closely. Residents have been urged to move to safer locations during lightning activity and avoid open areas, tall trees, waterbodies, and unsecured structures.
