Mayurbhanj: Tigress Jamuna, who was recently brought from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has been released into the core area of Similipal Forest, informed Deputy Director Dr Samrat Gowda of the Similipal South Wildlife Division on Saturday.

According to reports, Jamuna ventured out of the enclosure at around 10 am and made her way into the dense core area of the Similipal forest.

“We are closely monitoring her movement with the help of our trained monitoring team,” added Gowda.
Jamuna will now stay in the heart of the Similipal forest alongside 28 other rare melanistic tigers.

It is worth mentioning that Jamuna arrived at Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve on October 27 and was released into a soft enclosure on October 28. After a brief stay, she has been released into the core area of the reserve.
