Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Bhubaneswar on Friday, June 20. To ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety, commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly.

PM Modi will participate in a public program at Janata Maidan and a roadshow from Biju Patnaik International Airport to the event venue. Traffic congestion is expected along the following routes from 3 PM to 6 PM or until the event concludes.

The roadshow is likely to cause traffic congestion along several key routes in Bhubaneswar from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, or until the event concludes. The affected areas include Airport Square, Capital Hospital Square, AG Square, Raj Bhawan Square, Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Shastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, XIMB Square and NALCO Square. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid these areas during the specified time.

To manage crowd and traffic flow during the event, buses arriving from Cuttack (NH-16) will be diverted to take the following route:

Rasulgarh service road → Vani Vihar → Acharya Vihar → Apollo Hospital → Sainik School

This route is designed to minimise congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow during the event. Commuters are advised to follow the designated route to avoid any inconvenience.

To manage traffic and crowd flow, specific routes and parking arrangements have been designated for vehicles arriving from various directions:

– From Khurda (NH-16): Take Jaydev Vihar service road → Acharya Vihar → Apollo Hospital → Sainik School → NALCO Square → Kalinga Hospital Road. Parking is available along Railway Colony Golei Chhak to Utkal Hospital and Hatiasuni Chhak.

– From Nandankanan: Take NALCO Square → Kalinga Hospital Road, with parking arrangements similar to those from Khurda.

– From Puri: Take Kalpana Square → Raj Mahal → Sishu Bhawan → Capital Hospital Square, with parking available from Sishu Bhawan to Capital Hospital.

Commuters are advised to follow these designated routes and parking arrangements to minimise congestion and ensure a smooth journey.

Multiple parking locations have been designated across the city for bikes, cars, and buses: Airport Golei to Pani Tanki, Meteorological Ground, Shastrinagar to Engineering School, Behera Sahi to Nicco Park, Swadhinata Sangrami Ground, Kalinga Stadium, Salia Sahi Jatra Padia, Sainik School, Hatiasuni to Utkal Hospital and JK Paper Lane to Shyama Dham (VIP Parking).

Additionally, a separate parking area has been allocated for media vehicles near NISER. Commuters are advised to park their vehicles at these designated locations to avoid congestion and ensure a smooth traffic flow.

To ensure smooth traffic flow during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, restrictions have been imposed on goods carriers (6 or more wheelers, including trucks and trailers).

– From Khurda to Cuttack: Vehicles will be diverted from Pitapalli Square via Chandaka Square, bypassing Bhubaneswar.

– From Cuttack to Khurda: Vehicles will be diverted from Balikuda Square via Trishulia Square and Pitapalli.

However, these restrictions do not apply to emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire services, which will be allowed to pass through without interruption.

The Commissionerate Police has appealed to the public to cooperate and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas during the Prime Minister’s visit to minimise disruptions and ensure public safety.
