Traffic Curbs In Bhubaneswar For Independence Day Parade, Rehearsals

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar–Cuttack, has announced a series of traffic restrictions and diversions on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and adjoining areas of the city in view of the State-Level Independence Day Parade 2025 and its rehearsals.

The restrictions will be in effect on August 11 and 12 from 2 PM to 6 PM, August 13 from 7 AM to 11:30 AM, and August 15 from 6 AM until the completion of the parade and related events.

Under the order issued by Commissioner of Police Suresh Dev Datta Singh, heavy vehicles will not be allowed towards Master Canteen Square from Ram Mandir or Rajmahal sides. Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles from Rajmahal towards Ram Mandir via Master Canteen Square will be allowed, but turning towards PMG Square will remain prohibited.

Other key restrictions include:

  • No entry towards Rabindra Mandap from Housing Board side (vehicles diverted at Keshari Talkies crossing).
  • No entry towards PMG Square from AG Square (vehicles diverted at Jaydev Bhawan Square).
  • Vehicles from 120 Bn Square will be diverted towards Unit-IV at MLA Colony crossing.
  • All lanes touching Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be sealed, allowing only pedestrian movement.

Designated parking areas during the parade hours include the BDA bus stand near the railway station, open spaces near Congress Bhawan, IDCOL Auditorium, Jaydev Bhawan, SBI Unit-III, Rabindra Mandap, and Unit-II Girls’ High School Ground.

Additionally, the sale of gas balloons will be strictly prohibited between PMG Square and Master Canteen Square on August 15 from 6 AM until the end of the function. Violations will attract a fine of ₹500 to ₹1,000 under the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003.

The public has been advised to plan their travel accordingly.
