Tribal Warden’s Death: Dawn-To-Dusk Bandh In Rayagada Demanding CBI Probe

Bhubaneswar: Normal life was paralysed in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Friday in response to a dawn-to-dusk bandh call given by the District Adivasi Mahasangh demanding a CBI probe into the alleged murder of a physically-challenged tribal warden.

While most business and educational institutions remained closed, public transport vehicles remained off the road today. The bandh was supported by citizens from all walks of life.

It is worth mentioning here that the semi-nude body of Laxmi Majhi was recovered from hospital premises in December. Majhi, a native of Naketiguda village under Tikiri panchayat of Kashipur block, has been working as a warden at Maa Gruha in Chandrapur for the last five years. On December 21, Manjhi left Maa Gruha at around 4.00 pm and a few hours later, her colleagues found her half-charred body and informed Majhi’s family who alleged that she had been murdered.
