Sundargarh: A tusker, which was trapped in a muddy pond in a field near San Damkuda Bhadrapada under Sundargarh Sadar Forest Range in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday night, was rescued with the help of JCB crane on Sunday morning. It is suspected that the tusker came to the place in search of food and got trapped into the muddy pond.
Early on Sunday morning, Forest department personnel and the local people tried to drag the tusker out of the slurry pond but failed to do so. Later, a JCB machine pressed into service and the tusker was allowed to come out of the puddle. Forest department staff allowed safe passage to the elephant to its habitat in a nearby jungle.
