Balangir: Two bikers were killed and three others were critically injured in a head-on collision between two bikes near Dhamandanga village in Balangir district on Friday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Dhanurjay Jhankar of Pipal Munda village and Uttam Banchhor of Dangamara village.
According to reports, Dhanurjay Jhankar of Pipal Munda village along with his friend Tularam Mallik had gone to Kantabanji for some work. At around 9.00 PM they were returning home. They had a head-on collision with another bike coming from the opposite direction near Dhamandanga village as a result of which five persons on the two were critically injured.
Locals after rescuing the five seriously injured persons got them admitted to the Government Hospital at Kantabanji.
However, doctors at the hospital declared the two bikers Dhanurjay Jhankar of Pipal Munda village and Uttam Banchhor of Dangamara village dead.
The condition of the other three–Tularam Mallik, Pabitra Kanhar, and Abhi Banchhor who were pillion riding was critical.
Police have seized the bodies of the deceased and sent them for post-mortem.
