Malkangiri: Two hardcore Naxals were killed in an exchange of fire with the police on Wednesday in Nahadi forested area under Aranpur police limits of Dantewada district in the neighbouring State of Chhattisgarh.
Police have recovered the bodies of the slain hardcore Naxals belonging to the Darbha division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
Dantewada SP RK Barman has informed that a search operation is underway in the area. Based on reliable inputs on the presence of hardcore Naxals like Chaitu Dewa in the Nahadi forested area the operation was launched in the area.
During search operation in the forested area under Aranpur police limits a jawan of the 231 Battalion has been critically injured in an IED blast near Kumarguda.
Police sources said that the jawan whose leg has been seriously injured in the blast is being shifted to the Dantewada district headquarters hospital.
