Koraput: Two people were killed and 12 others, including a bridegroom, sustained varying degrees of injuries when the vehicle they were travelling by from Narayan Patna to Umarkote in Odisha’s Koraput district crashed into the Bharat Mala Overbridge near Kaliaguda in Borigumma on National Highway No. 26 on late Sunday night.
The marriage party, including the bridegroom, was travelling from Narayan Patna to Umarkote.
On being informed, Borigumma Police and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers trapped inside the vehicle. The injured were admitted to the Borigumma Community Health Centre (CHC) where the condition of some is stated to be serious.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
