Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries in a road accident near Mahulkhal village under Kaliapani police limits in Jajpur district late Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Biswanath Mahanta of Kaduabandi village and Sanjay Kumar Mahanta of Mahulkhal village.
According to reports, five youths from the locality were returning from Rasola in an Ertiga vehicle when the accident occurred. The car, reportedly speeding, lost control on a sharp bend near Mahulkhal, crashed into a tree, and plunged off the road.
While two occupants died on the spot, another was critically injured and has been admitted to Tata Steel Medica Hospital in Kalinganagar for treatment.
Upon receiving the information, Kaliapani police reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and began an investigation into the incident.
