Bhubaneswar: Two Maoists were killed in a gunfight with a joint team of security personnel in Bijapur district on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border Friday.
The encounter took place around 11 am in a dense forest near the tri-junction of Usoor, Basaguda, and Pamed villages, following a tip-off about Maoist presence in the area.

A joint search operation was launched by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Bijapur after receiving intelligence about Maoist activity in the Usur-Basaguda-Pamed-Tarrem area. The operation unfolded in the Rekhapalli-Komathpalli forest area, where security forces clashed with the Maoists for several hours.

The confrontation resulted in the deaths of two Maoists, whose identities are yet to be confirmed. Police also seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including 1 SLR rifle, and other arms ammunition.
