Two Students Drown In Kuakhai River On Bhubaneswar Outskirts

Bhubaneswar: Two students lost their lives after drowning in the Kuakhai River on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday.

The victims were rushed to Capital Hospital following the incident, where doctors declared them brought dead.

According to reports, the deceased were students of a private coaching institute in Bhubaneswar and hailed from outside Odisha. They had gone to the riverbank for a picnic along with a group of friends.

After finishing their meal, several members of the group reportedly entered the river to bathe. During this time, the two students were swept away by the water and drowned. Sources said around seven to eight friends were present at the spot when the tragedy occurred.

Local residents and the students’ companions made attempts to rescue the victims and immediately shifted them to the hospital. However, the rescue efforts proved unsuccessful.

Further investigation is underway.
