Bhubaneswar: Two construction workers were killed after an under-construction toilet tank collapsed in BJB Nagar area under Badagada police limits in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
According to initial reports, the workers were engaged in construction work and were removing the shuttering planks of the under-construction toilet tank when the structure suddenly gave way. The collapse trapped the workers under the debris.
Following the incident, local residents and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and pulled the workers out in a critical condition. They were immediately shifted to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared both of them dead.
The identities of the deceased were yet to be established at the time of filing this report.
Police and local authorities reached the site and initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest the accident occurred while the shuttering of the under-construction tank was being dismantled, causing the structure to collapse. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap and whether any negligence was involved.
