Bhubaneswar: A rogue tusker’s midnight raid in Kendukhunta village under Raibania police station in Jaleswar block ended in tragedy when it knocked down a wall, killing a two-year-old boy.
The deceased toddler has been identified as Ram alias Narayan, son of Uddhab Besra.
As per reports, the elephant had strayed into the house, searching for food, and pushed its trunk through a gap, causing the wall to collapse. The family, including Uddhab, his wife Chari Besra, and their five children, were sleeping inside when the mishap took place. The rogue tusker has also damaged a cabin at Luhapada junction.
Upon being informed, forest officials, including Prahlad Nayak and Dillip Singh, reached the spot and rushed the injured to Hathigada Health Centre, where the child was declared dead.
