Bhubaneswar: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram took on a new role – that of an actor – at the iconic Luv Kush Ramlila organised at Delhi’s Red Fort Maidan.
Oram portrayed the character of Nishadraj Guha, the tribal king and a pivotal figure from the Ramayana, during the performance staged on Wednesday. His role depicted a significant episode from Lord Ram’s exile, where Nishadraj Guha extends his warm hospitality to Lord Ram.Speaking about his experience, the Union Minister said it was an honour to be part of the grand production.
“I sincerely thank all the office-bearers and members of the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee for giving me the opportunity to play the role of Nishad Raj, who was the king of the forest and a leader of tribal and backward communities,” Oram said.
“My role is to welcome Lord Shri Ram when he arrives during his exile and see him off the next morning. It is a great experience to be part of this programme,” he added.
Reflecting on his journey, Oram said, “I entered politics by chance. Little did I know that I would have to come this far. I simply thought about contesting an election and started working for the party. But the party gave me an opportunity, the people supported and liked me, and because of that, I have reached this position today.”On his acting debut, he said, “Now, the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee has asked me to play the role of Nishad Raj. I will try my best. I cannot claim that I will definitely succeed, but I will try. Moreover, since I belong to that community, as a descendant of Nishad Raj, coming from that tradition, some of his elements must be in me. Therefore, I will try, and I am confident that I will succeed.”
The Luv Kush Ramlila at Red Fort Maidan is one of Delhi’s most prominent Ramlila celebrations, known for its grand stage and participation of prominent personalities.
