Bhubaneswar: A 20-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide as her parents finalised her marriage against her wish. This incident took place at Ankura village under Patana police limits in Keonjhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Bati Buliuli’s daughter Sakuntala of Ankura village.
As per reports, Sakuntala went to sleep after having her dinner on Wednesday night. To their utter surprise, Sakuntala’s family members found her hanging in her bedroom Thursday morning.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to Patana Community Health Centre (CHC) for post-mortem. However, the exact reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained.
If sources are to be believed, it is said that the girl reportedly committed suicide as her parents finalised her marriage against her wish.
Police, meanwhile, registered an unnatural death case in this regard and began an investigation into it.
