Puri: A devotee from Uttar Pradesh died after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest while offering prayers at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Anand Kashyap, a resident of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, Kashyap had come to the 12th century shrine along with his family members to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. While standing near the Bahara Katha area during darshan, he suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness.
Family members immediately took him outside the temple premises. With assistance from the temple administration, he was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital in an ambulance.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
Preliminary reports suggest that Kashyap died due to a suspected cardiac arrest, though the exact cause of death has remained unclear.
