Bhubaneswar: Based on searches conducted on properties linked to NV Harihara Rao, Chief Engineer in the office of the Chief Construction Engineer, Rural Works Circle in Balasore, Vigilance sleuths arrested him on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income.
A search conducted by the Vigilance Cell uncovered Rs 46.45 lakhs in cash from his brother-in-law’s house in Berhampur, along with other properties including two buildings, one 3-BHK flat, two suspected benami flats in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur, five high-value homestead plots, deposits and investments totalling Rs. 3.42 crores and 510 grams of gold.
Rao was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets which led to his arrest. He will be produced in court today.
The Vigilance Cell registered a case against Rao, marking a significant step in the fight against corruption.
