Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Golap Chandra Hansdah, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in Boudh district, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During search, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 1 multi-storeyed building, 44 plots, gold weighing 1 kg comprising two gold biscuits (each biscuit weighing 50 grams), silver weighing over 2 kg, cash over Rs.2.38 lakhs, deposits worth over Rs.1.34 crore, Rs.40 lakh spent on medical education of his daughter and one diary with details of benami money transactions.
The accused MVI couldn’t satisfactorily account for these assets, leading to his arrest.
A case (Balasore Vigilance PS Case No 7/2025) has been registered against him, and he will be presented before the Special Vigilance Judge in Baripada. The investigation is underway.
