Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today apprehended an Assistant Engineer of Kundura Block in Koraput district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor. The bribe was allegedly taken for clearing bills related to road work.
The entire amount was recovered from the accused Lambodhara Nayak’s possession and seized. Simultaneous searches are underway at his locations to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered against Nayak under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and an investigation is currently underway.
