Bhubaneswar: WAREE Energies Limited will invest Rs 25,000 crore to set up a major solar plant on 595 acres at Neulpoi in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. Odisha Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Krushna Chandra Patra conducted the ground-breaking ceremony of the project on Monday.

Aside from manufacturing solar panels, modules, and related components, the WAREE plant will generate 6 gigawatts of solar energy. The project is estimated to create about 14,000 new employment opportunities.

Speaking to the media, Patra, who is also the Minister for Science and Technology, said that the upcoming solar project will transform the development of Dhenkanal. At the same time, the plant will help in meeting Odisha’s growing energy demands.

According to WAREE director Hitesh Mehta, the project will create about 14,000 jobs in phases in the next 5 to 10 years.
