Bhubaneswar: The Hirakud Dam has reached its peak capacity of 630 feet, with the water level currently standing at 630 feet.
As of 9 am today, the inflow of water into the dam was 56,392 cusecs, while the outflow through canals, industries, and power generation was 37,334 cusecs.
The Chief Engineer of the dam said since the upper catchment area has received less rainfall, all gates have been closed. If rainfall occurs in the upper catchment area, gates may be opened again. With reduced rainfall in the upper catchment area, authorities are cautiously optimistic about managing the water level.
Following a decrease in rainfall upstream in Chhattisgarh, authorities have closed all gates. However, they may reopen if rainfall resumes.
