Bhubaneswar: The regional weather office has predicted heavy rainfall in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundergarh districts on Wednesday, given a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected to persist in the state for the next five days, with chances of heavy rainfall in certain districts.
The Coastal regions of Odisha are likely to receive intermittent rainfall today.
The regional weather department has issued a yellow warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Nuapada and Bargarh districts, which are expecting to receive heavy rainfall on June 27.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Sambalpur and Bargarh districts, and heavy rains are expected in Angul, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts on June 29.
Recently, the state has seen an overall increase in rainfall, with 163.6 mm expected since the beginning of June. However, only 94.6 mm of rainfall has been recorded so far.
Of the 30 districts, five districts experienced normal rainfall, and 21 districts received moderate rainfall, out of which Mayurbhanj, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, and Balangir had particularly heavy rain. Bargarh’s Paikmal recorded the highest at 56 mm between yesterday morning and today.
Whereas Harbhanga in Boudh got 53 mm, Padmapur in Bargarh and Rayagada received 46 mm, and Bolgarh in Khurda had 37 mm. Additionally, Jagatsinghpur saw 49.2 mm, Nayagarh 24 mm, Chandbali 22.8 mm, Daringbadi 22 mm, Bhadrak 8 mm, Jajpur 5 mm, and Keonjhar 4.7 mm.
