Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over north Odisha and its neighbourhood has weakened into a low-pressure area over north Chhattisgarh and its neighbourhood, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD update, the system has moved west-northwestwards and is currently located over north Chhattisgarh. The IMD forecasts that it will continue to move in the same direction, crossing East Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours.
Residents in the affected areas can expect changes in weather conditions due to this system, with possibilities of rain or thunderstorms in nearby areas.
Going by today’s forecast, the IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack.
Additionally, a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms with similar wind speeds has been issued for the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Boudh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sundargarh, Balasore, and Kendrapara.
