Nuapada: Forest Department team in Nuapada district arrested six individuals involved in the smuggling of leopard skins and sambar horns.
Acting on credible information, a team raided a location near Saradapur village in Boden area and seized two leopard skins and two sambar antlers.
Four individuals were initially detained and later arrested for their involvement in wildlife smuggling. During interrogation, it was revealed that another leopard skin was hidden in Dharmabandha area of Nuapada district.
The team promptly seized the skin and arrested two more individuals, said Mohammed Fathun Azeez Khan, DFO, Khariar Forest Division.
The accused are Dinesh Majhi, Mukhtaram Chinda, Purna Chandra Chinda, Madhusudan Majhi, Gajanan Sahu and Mahesh Sahu. The raid was carried out by a team led by forest officers Asif Prasadjit Naik, MM Saliha.
