Nabarangpur: A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband with the involvement of another woman in Nabarangpur district, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred in Nandahandi block under Tentulikhunti police limits. The deceased has been identified as Priti Khura of Bethania village in Dasamantpur block of Koraput district. She was married to Salmon Takri of Marali village in Nandahandi.
According to a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, Sanjita Khura, the couple had been facing frequent disputes due to the husband’s alleged extramarital relationship with a woman identified as Salma Takri. Though Priti had earlier returned to her parental home over the issue, she later resumed living with her husband following a family settlement, and the couple had a daughter.
On the day of the incident, Priti reportedly went out with her child in search of her husband and found him with the other woman. An argument broke out, following which Salmon and the woman allegedly killed her and attempted to pass it off as a suicide, the complaint alleged.
The husband later took Priti to Tentulikhunti hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Suspecting foul play, the victim’s mother lodged a written complaint at Tentulikhunti police station, demanding strict action against the accused.
Police have taken Salmon Takri into custody and detained the other woman for questioning. Preliminary investigation indicates the husband’s involvement in the murder, while the role of the detained woman is under probe.
Nabarangpur SDPO Krushnachandra Bhatra said the accused husband will be produced before a court, and further investigation is underway to ascertain all aspects of the case.
