Bhubaneswar: A woman died on the spot, and her son sustained critical injuries after being run over by a truck in Sundargarh district’s Kutra police station area. The incident occurred when the duo was returning from Rourkela on a bike near Garposh Chowk.
The deceased woman has been identified as Dileswari Das, a resident of Gopalpur area under Hemagiri police limits area.
According to reports, Dileswari along with her son had gone to see her brother, who had passed away in a Rourkela-based private hospital. They were on their way to Sundargarh from Rourkela when the trailer truck ran over them at Garposh Chowk killing Dileswari on the very spot. Dileswari’s son is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Following the accident, locals blocked the road demanding action against the truck driver. They lifted the blockade after police intervened into it.
