Bhubaneswar: A woman labourer was killed and four others were critically injured in a lightning strike at Bankati village under Rairangpur Rural police station in Mayurbhanj district today.
According to reports, the lightning struck while they were working in a field. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Rairangpur health centre. The deceased has been identified as Gurubari Behera, who died on the spot.
In a separate incident, 11 Anganwadi workers were critically injured after lightning struck an Anganwadi centre at Mallipasi village under Patna block in Keonjhar district.
The incident occurred when 22 Anganwadi workers were holding a meeting inside the centre. The lightning strike left 11 workers critically injured. They were taken to Patana CHC for treatment.
CDPO Kalpana Dora said one of them is in critical condition while others are recovering.
