Woman Severely Injured

Balasore: A woman was severely injured in an alleged attack by her husband on Thursday at Balasore Station Road under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore district.

The accused, Bharat Mallick, reportedly attacked his wife Ritanjali Mallick, in a dispute related to their ongoing marital issues.

According to reports, the couple, who had been married for 10 years following a love marriage, had been facing domestic tensions and had filed for divorce.

Ritanjali had also previously reported her husband’s abusive behavior to the local police, citing instances of assault and mistreatment, particularly when he was under the influence of alcohol.

On Thursday, while Ritanjali was at a travel agency booking a bus ticket to visit her family, her husband allegedly confronted her and attacked her. She sustained serious injuries to her hands and neck and was subsequently hospitalized.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Sahadevkhunta police arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage for further evidence.
