Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident of public violence has surfaced on Monday evening when a young couple was allegedly brutally beaten with bamboo sticks in the middle of Giri Road in Berhampur, in full view of passers-by.
The distressing video of the assault, which surfaced on social media, shows two men repeatedly attacking the couple with sticks while some panicked onlookers attempted to interfere. The majority of bystanders, however, remained mere spectators, sparking widespread outrage over public apathy and safety concerns in the city.
According to preliminary information, the attack is believed to stem from previous enmity. The exact cause is yet to be confirmed as police investigation is underway.
The injured couple was immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where they received treatment. Doctors have stated that both are now in stable condition.
