Puri: Amid the sacred Anasara rituals of Lord Jagannath at the Srimandir, a young Daitapati servitor has drawn attention after participating in the confidential temple rituals for the first time.

Sri Ansh Das Mahapatra, son of Shivani Das Mahapatra of Dolamandap Sahi, entered the Anasara Ghara as the youngest Daitapati servitor and formally began his hereditary service to the Holy Trinity.

On the sixth day of Anasara, observed as Osha Lagi, the young servitor offered Pauna Bhoga to the deities and partook in Chakata Bhoga, marking his participation in the sacred rituals and earning recognition as the youngest Daitapati involved in the ongoing proceedings.

Dressed in traditional Daitapati attire and wearing ceremonial headgear, Sri Ansh accompanied his grandfather Jagannath Das Mahapatra, uncle Bhawani Das Mahapatra, and father Shivani Das Mahapatra into the Srimandir. After entering through the Anasara gate, he proceeded to the Anasara Pindi, where he offered prayers and made offerings to the ailing deities.

According to Daita tradition, a child born into a Daitapati family is formally enrolled as a Daita servitor 21 days after birth. From the day following Phuluri Tela Lagi during Anasara, such young servitors become part of the Lord’s confidential rituals.

Family members said that although Sri Ansh is too young to understand the intricacies of temple rituals and traditions, he has begun his hereditary service and is expected to carry forward the sacred responsibility with devotion in the years ahead.
