Bhubaneswar: A young woman on Wednesday accused her live-in partner of sexually assaulting her in the Laxmisagar area of the city. The accused identified as Bipin Sabat has been arrested.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Budhanagar locality under Laxmisagar police station limits, where the survivor was residing in a rented house. She was reportedly in a live-in relationship with Bipin Sabat.
The woman approached the Laxmisagar police station and lodged a written complaint, alleging that Bipin Sabat had sexually assaulted her without her consent. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested accused Bipin Sabat.
The accused was arrested from the Bada Bazaar area of Berhampur city and is set to be taken to Bhubaneswar, where he will be presented before a court.
In the meantime, the survivor has undergone a medical check-up, and her statement has been officially documented as part of the investigation.
Police officials stated that the matter is under further investigation.
