Balasore: The police on Friday arrested one Madhusudhan Behera and his associate Manas Jena on charges of murder. Madhusudhan hacked his brother Raghunath Behera (38) and the latter’s his wife Pravati (35) to death with the help of Manas on Wednesday night.
According to the police, Madhusudhan had plotted the murder three months back after having got involved in a feud with Raghunath over land share. Raghunath was a native of Majhi Sahi in Sabira under Soro police limits.
The victims, Raghunath and Pravati had gone to a poultry farm, around 300 metre from their house, after having dinner at around 10 pm. Around 10-15 minutes, locals heard the couple’s screams and rushed to the farm only to find their bodies with throats slit.
Soro police registered a case in this connection and started investigation which led to establishing the motive behind the crime. On the basis of the statement of the accused, the weapons of offence were recovered from a water body nearby, the police said.
