Youth Found Dead In Balangir

Balangir: A young man’s body was discovered at the Laxmi Jor Bridge in Balangir district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Chintu Karan, a resident of Gate Sarbar Sahi in Balangir.

According to reports, Chintu Karan had traveled with a youth named Situ Swain the previous day but did not return home by late night. Despite multiple calls from Chintu’s family, Situ answered the phone and claimed he would bring him home soon.

At around 1:30 AM, Situ arrived at Chintu’s house and informed the family that Chintu had been hit by a vehicle. When they went to the spot, they found Chintu’s lifeless body at the Laxmi Jor Bridge.

Chintu’s brother, Mantu Karan, said that four people were standing near the body, and there was also an iron rod nearby. Upon seeing the family, the individuals fled the scene.

Mantu Karan believes that this was not an accident, but rather a premeditated murder. “This is a planned murder,” he stated.

The Bolangir town police, acting on a tip-off, reached the location and sent the body for a post-mortem. A special team also arrived at the scene to investigate further.

“The family members allege it is a murder, and we are awaiting the post-mortem report. Once we receive the results, appropriate action will be taken. A scientific team is also investigating the matter, and inquiries are ongoing,” said Pradip Kumar Sahu, SDPO of Balangir.
