Balasore: A Special POCSO Court in Balasore on Tuesday sentenced a 19-year-old youth to 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) along with a fine of Rs 6,000 on Tuesday after convicting him on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl.
Sukuar Singh of Madhupuria village under Nilgiri police station limits was sentenced by Balasore Special Judge POCSO Ranjan Kumar Sutar after he convicted him for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl after kidnapping her.
The court also ordered two years of rigorous imprisonment in case the convict failed to pay the fine.
As per the case details, Singh kidnapped the girl while she had gone to watch opera and held her captive at various locations including Udala and Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj district, where the crime was committed.
The court pronounced the judgment after examining 15 witnesses and 22 exhibits.
